Dave Lewinski, who I work with quite often, came over my place to photograph Mooshoo and I for a project about people in Detroit. I still keep finding sparkles in my wood floor!

I made these tortillas for a dinner party with my lady friends. This recipe is my favorite for tortillas, and it’s super easy to make.

The fashion story for our Winter issue of Bride was inspired by a vintage valentine, and I found some giant retro letters for the shoot. I designed the giant heart cross-stitch, and Megan helped me stitch it:

I ran out of wrapping paper, so I used some vintage sewing patterns to wrap my Christmas presents. Normal patterns are too transparent, but the patterns from the “make it yourself” craft books were perfect:

For this story on Bloomfield Park, which is a business park that was abandoned mid construction, I somehow ended up getting to ride in a helicopter with a guy named Randy to get aerial shots. I assigned Justin Maconochie to photograph the story and he ended up getting kicked out of the property for trespassing. We decided to go with hipstamatic shots for the story (which I’ve been waiting for the perfect opportunity for). That way, Justin was able to get in and out of the site quickly, and still get some fantastic shots, without having to do any set up.
The helicopter was only available to us for one day, so I ended uphaving getting to ride in it to shoot the aerials. A pretty fun day of work, if you ask me. It only got scary once I realized that to get the best shots the helicopter door would have to be taken off. Yikes. Here’s some of the shots I got:

The cover art for the 30 in their Thirties was done by Lorenzo Petrantoni. The concept was to use an icon for that represented the 30 people’s different businesses.
Each photo, taken by Cybelle Codish, ran with the icon on top.
Lorenzo also sent me this poster of his work, which happens to be my favorite illustration of his.

I finally got around to photographing the vintage credenza I painted… I used Martha Stewart paint samples, and it only took me one night to finish. My new place is coming together.

I’ve been a bit type obsessed this week, wanting to spend all my money on fonts. I had saved this image awhile back, and finally found out the typeface. It’s F37 Bella, designed by Rick Banks, and inspired by John Pistilli, Herb Lubalin, and Swiss typographer Jan Tschichold. Love that ampersand!
